The best Octupie alternatives for finding viral reels (2026)

Octupie picks the accounts for you and sticks to Instagram. Seven alternatives for when that's the problem, compared on platforms, caps and refunds. Ours included.

Aubrium ResearchEditorial · Updated

Octupie is unusually upfront about what it leaves out. On its own comparison page, it says it "Covers Instagram Reels only, with no TikTok or YouTube Shorts".1 Its plans cap breakdowns at 50 or 100 a month.2 And the whole idea is that it picks the accounts for you, so you see reels from the accounts it chose to watch, plus any you add.

None of that makes it a bad tool. It's easy to start, and it writes a script in your voice in about 30 seconds. But if one of those three things is why you're reading this, the right alternative depends on which one.

Fair warning: this is our page. We make Aubrium, and it's one of the seven alternatives below, with what it can't do. Every fact about the other tools comes from their own websites, which we read on 22 October 2026. The one exception, from a ViralSpot account we paid for, says its date. If you'd like the wider field first, we compared ten tools in the best tools to find viral reels.

The short answer

If Octupie picking the accounts is the problem, Aubrium lets you search Instagram reels from accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, by niche and country, from $49 a month. If you need TikTok and Shorts, Sandcastles or Viral Outliers (from $17 a month) cover all three. If it's the monthly caps, ViralSpot is $25 a month with unlimited credits. For transcripts, try CreatorHouse.

Best for searching, not a feed: Aubrium

A library of Instagram reels from accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers. Filter by niche and country.

Best for TikTok and Shorts too: Sandcastles

One watchlist across all three, with transcripts. Or Viral Outliers, from $17 a month with a 7-day trial.

Best for unlimited credits: ViralSpot

One plan at $25 a month, with unlimited credits. Instagram only, like Octupie.

What Octupie is good at

Octupie is built for creators who don't want to do the research at all. You give it your Instagram handle, and it learns your niche, finds the top accounts in it and watches them for you. Its own line sums it up well:

OctupieHomeFAQ
“You get a curated feed instead of a blank tracker.”
Open the page

That's a real advantage if building a list of accounts sounds like a chore. Here's what else it does well, all from its own site.3

The account list is done for you

It maps the competitors in your niche when you sign up. You can still follow a specific account if you want to.

Scripts in your voice, fast

Pick a hook and get a ready-to-film script in about 30 seconds. It learns your tone from your own reels and writes in your language, Hinglish included.

A trial with no card

Seven days free, no card needed, and nothing is charged unless you pick a plan.

A refund on every payment

A full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals included.4 No other tool on this page publishes a refund that wide on renewals, ours included.

Team seats

Pro adds seats for up to 45 creators in one workspace, at $35 a month each.2

Why people look for an Octupie alternative

Here are four reasons to look, all from Octupie's own site. None of them is a flaw so much as a choice it made. You might just want the other choice.

It's Instagram only

Octupie is for Instagram reels. It can read your LinkedIn, X, YouTube and website when you sign up, but only as context about you.3 Its comparison page puts it plainly: no TikTok, no YouTube Shorts.1 If you post the same video in three places, you'll want a tool that watches all three.

It picks the accounts for you

That's the point of Octupie, and it's also the limit. You see breakouts from the top accounts it found in your niche, and tracked competitors stop at 15 on Creator and 30 on Pro.2 Its site describes a feed. A library you search yourself isn't on it.

Octupie's answer is that each reel is measured against its own account's usual views, so a small account's breakout shows up next to a big one's.1 That's true for the accounts in the feed. The question is which accounts get into the feed in the first place. If the creator you'd learn the most from is one nobody's heard of, you need a way to go and find them.

Breakdowns and tracking are capped

A breakdown is Octupie's read of one reel: the hook, what's on screen, the structure. Every plan caps them, and tracked accounts too. Scripts are capped on the trial and on Creator.2

7-day trialCreator, $29 a monthPro, $49 a month
Breakdowns5 new, plus ones already done50 a month100 a month
Tracked accountsUp to 101530
Scripts330 a monthUnlimited (fair use)

Fifty is plenty if you study a few reels before each one you film. If you like to read dozens first, it's a ceiling.

Some things aren't on its site

We read Octupie's home page, pricing page, FAQ, terms and refund policy. Here's what they list, and what we couldn't find.

On Octupie's site, read 22 October 2026

  • Yes: The hook word for word, and what's on screen
  • Yes: Scripts and captions in your voice
  • Yes: Reels and carousels in the feed
  • No: TikTok or YouTube Shorts, in its own words
  • No: Transcripts: not on their site
  • No: A follower-size or country filter: not on their site
  • No: A connector for ChatGPT or Claude: not on their site

Octupie alternatives at a glance

Read the "Finds reels by" column first, because it decides the rest. A feed picks the accounts for you, the way Octupie does. A watchlist shows the outliers, reels that did far better than their account usually does, from accounts you add. A library lets you search accounts you've never heard of.

The alternatives, one by one

1. Aubrium

LibraryFrom $49/mo

Best for: Searching reels from accounts your size, not a feed

Aubrium is a library, not a feed. It holds viral Instagram posts (reels, carousels and photos), and every account in it has between 1,000 and 100,000 followers. A reel gets in when its views reach at least twice the account's followers and at least 10,000. On 22 October 2026 that came to 286,620 viral posts from 196,476 creators, filed into 360 niches.

You search it yourself. In the app it's called Find Ideas: pick a niche, then filter by country, format, hook type, account size, whether someone talks to camera and whether it's AI-made. Each post shows its hook and how it was made, and reels with speech carry their transcript. Around it sit My Rivals, topic search, Performance, and Make my version, which turns any post into your own reel script or carousel.

It won't help if TikTok is why you're leaving: like Octupie, it's Instagram only. It also costs more to start, $49 against $29, and tracking a rival costs Sparks, the credits that also pay for what you make. We put the two side by side in Aubrium vs Octupie.

Pricing
$49, $99 or $249 a month, monthly only. Every plan has every tool.5
Trial
None. A full refund within 15 days of a first subscription.6
Platforms

Good
  • A library you search, not a feed someone else picked
  • Only accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, in 360 niches
  • Country, format, hook-type, on-camera and AI filters
  • Hooks on posts, transcripts on reels with speech
  • Works inside ChatGPT and Claude
Not so good
  • Instagram only. No TikTok or Shorts
  • No free plan or trial
  • No team seats, public API or scheduling
  • Tracking a rival costs 40 Sparks for 30 days

2. ViralSpot

Feed and watchlistFrom $25/mo

Best for: A feed like Octupie's, without monthly caps

ViralSpot is the closest thing to Octupie on this list, minus the caps. It's built for Instagram, it serves a feed of outliers scored against each account's normal, and it writes scripts and captions in your voice.7 The difference is one plan at $25 a month with unlimited credits, so there's no 50-breakdown ceiling to hit.8

It tracks up to 20 competitors and rebuilds carousels in your colors and fonts. Its home page says you can filter by niche, format and account size.7 Its one plan also includes an MCP server, which connects it to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.9

What its site doesn't mention is a country filter, and there wasn't one in the app when we paid for it on 19 September 2026. It has no free tier, in its own words,9 and a free trial isn't on its site. Instead, you get a full refund within 14 days of your first payment, which doesn't cover renewals.8

Pricing

Platforms

  • Unlimited credits, no monthly caps
  • Up to 20 competitors tracked

  • Country filter not on their site
  • Transcripts not offered as a feature on their site
  • Refund covers the first payment only

3. Sandcastles

WatchlistFrom $49/mo

Best for: One watchlist for Instagram, TikTok and Shorts

Sandcastles is the obvious move if Instagram only is the problem. One watchlist covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, it flags each channel's outliers, and it gives you transcripts, hooks and scripts.10 On Pro and up, a global search goes beyond your list to videos from across Sandcastles.11

We've paid for it and used it. It's built around channels you add, which is the reverse of Octupie's done-for-you feed. When you're finding channels to add, you can filter them by account size.12 A country filter isn't on its site. Credits reset every month, and it doesn't refund its Pro, Visionary or Titan plans. We compared it with Aubrium in Aubrium vs Sandcastles.

Pricing
$49, $99 or $499 a month ($39, $79 or $399 a month, billed yearly)10
Trial
None. New accounts can start on a $5 Starter month, offered once.13
Platforms
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
Good
  • Three platforms in one watchlist
  • Download the transcript of any video
  • A global search on Pro and up
  • MCP on Pro and up; an API and guest workspaces on Titan
Not so good
  • You build the watchlist yourself
  • Country filter not on their site
  • Credits expire each month
  • No refunds on Pro and up

4. Viral Outliers

Search and watchlistFrom $17/mo

Best for: Three platforms at the lowest regular price here

Viral Outliers has the lowest regular monthly price on this page, and it searches YouTube, TikTok and Instagram Reels in one place. It scores every post against its own profile's normal, and it has a REST API and an MCP connector, so an AI agent can search outliers and pull transcripts for you.14

Searching outliers is unlimited on every plan.15 Their blog says you can filter by follower count, and that Content Ideas turn outliers into a hook and a script.16 The home page adds a language filter.14

The catch for an Octupie user: content ideas are capped too, at 30, 90 or 1,200 a month.15 Transcripts are described for the API and MCP only, and the site doesn't publish a refund policy for plans.

Pricing
$17, $37 or $149 a month15 ($170, $370 or $1,490 a year)16
Trial
7 days free on every plan. They ask for a card.14
Platforms
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube
Good
  • Lowest regular price here, with a trial
  • Unlimited outlier search
  • A follower-count filter, per their blog
  • A REST API and MCP
Not so good
  • Content ideas capped each month
  • Transcripts described for the API and MCP only
  • Country filter not on their site
  • No refund policy for plans on their site

5. CreatorHouse

WatchlistFrom $39/mo

Best for: Transcripts of every video you track

CreatorHouse is for the Octupie user who wants the words. It tracks any public Instagram or TikTok account, transcribes every video and labels the hook: a question, a stat, a story. A chat then turns any of those videos into a script in your voice. It also suggests creators in your niche to track.17

Tracking is unlimited on every plan, where Octupie stops at 15 or 30 accounts.18 But its own review of Sandcastles lists research beyond your watchlist as a place where Sandcastles is ahead.19 It runs on tokens, and its site doesn't say what each action costs. Refunds are handled case by case.20

Pricing
$39 a month, $97 a year, or $14.99 a week18
Trial
3 days free, full access
Platforms
Instagram, TikTok
Good
  • Transcripts and hook types on every video
  • Unlimited tracking on every plan
  • A weekly plan for a short sprint
  • $97 for a whole year
Not so good
  • Only the accounts you track
  • Runs on tokens; cost per action not on their site
  • Size and country filters not on their site
  • No ChatGPT or Claude connector, per their own review

6. Runwave AI

FeedFrom $19/mo

Best for: AI and automation creators who want a $5 first month

Runwave covers Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It fills a feed from the competitors and keywords you give it, and breaks down any reel you paste: the transcript, the hook, the pacing and where people drop off. Then it writes the script in your voice.21

The first month of Starter is $5, which makes it an easy experiment. Read its home page before you sign up, though. It says it's built for one kind of creator: people who post about AI tools, automations and no-code builds. Starter also caps script adaptations at 10 a month, and scheduling is still marked as coming soon.

Its comparison with Sandcastles says it ships an MCP server, and that it pulls reels live from the accounts and keywords you point it at.22

Pricing
Starter $19 a month (first month $5), Pro $3921
Trial
Not on their site. The $5 first month of Starter instead.
Platforms
Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
Good
  • A $5 first month
  • Transcripts and a breakdown of any reel you paste
  • Three platforms
  • An MCP server
Not so good
  • Built for AI and automation creators, by its own description
  • 10 script adaptations a month on Starter
  • Only the accounts and keywords you give it
  • Size and country filters not on their site

7. Virlo

Agents and watchlistFrom $49/mo

Best for: Teams who want agents, alerts and seats

Virlo pitches its Pro plan at agencies and teams. It covers TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, plus Meta ads. Its research agents take one sentence about what to hunt for and search Virlo's database for outliers, once or every day, week or month.23

Results can go to Slack, Discord, Zapier, n8n or a webhook, and the Pro plan comes with 3 team seats.24 The catch is the credit meter. One research run uses 100 of the 2,000 credits on the $49 Starter plan, and tracking a creator costs 15 credits for each daily check. There's a 7-day free trial, and no refunds after it.

Its MCP server is sold pay as you go, through Virlo's developer API.25

Pricing
$49 or $199 a month ($34 or $139 a month, billed yearly). Enterprise from $499 a month.24
Trial

Platforms

  • Research agents that keep searching on a schedule
  • Alerts in Slack and Discord
  • Team seats on Pro

Not so good
  • 100 credits a research run
  • No refunds after the trial
  • Size and country filters not on their pricing or home page
  • MCP sold pay as you go

Questions people ask

What is the best Octupie alternative?

It depends why you're leaving. For TikTok and Shorts, Sandcastles or Viral Outliers. To search reels from accounts your size instead of a feed, Aubrium. To keep an Instagram feed without monthly caps, ViralSpot.

Is there a free Octupie alternative?

None of the seven lists a free plan on its site. Viral Outliers and Virlo give you 7 days free and CreatorHouse gives you 3, and Runwave's first month is $5. Octupie's own 7-day trial is the only one here that says it needs no card.

Does Octupie work with TikTok or YouTube Shorts?

No. Its own comparison page says it covers Instagram Reels only. Sandcastles, Viral Outliers, Runwave AI and Virlo cover all three, and CreatorHouse covers Instagram and TikTok.

Which Octupie alternatives show transcripts?

Sandcastles, CreatorHouse and Runwave AI list transcripts in the app, and Aubrium shows them on reels with speech. Viral Outliers and Virlo describe them through their API or MCP. Octupie's site doesn't mention transcripts.

Which ones have team seats?

Octupie's Pro plan sells seats for up to 45 creators, at $35 a month each. Of the seven here, Virlo's Pro plan includes 3 seats and Sandcastles' Titan plan adds read-only guest workspaces. Aubrium has no team seats, so if seats are why you're on Octupie Pro, weigh that first.

Can I use them inside ChatGPT or Claude?

Aubrium, ViralSpot, Sandcastles (Pro and up), Viral Outliers and Runwave AI have an MCP connector. Virlo sells its MCP server pay as you go. Octupie's site doesn't mention one, and CreatorHouse's own review says it has none.

Is Aubrium cheaper than Octupie?

No. Aubrium starts at $49 a month and Octupie at $29. Aubrium has no trial but refunds a first subscription in full within 15 days, while Octupie refunds any payment within 14 days.

How we checked

We read every tool's own website, pricing page, FAQ and refund policy (where it has one) on 22 October 2026, Octupie's included. We'd also paid for Sandcastles and ViralSpot and used them on 19 September 2026; the one fact from those sessions on this page says that date. Then we asked the questions someone leaving Octupie asks:

  • Does it cover TikTok and Shorts? Octupie doesn't, by its own account.
  • Who picks the accounts? The tool, you, or nobody, because you search a library.
  • What's capped? Breakdowns, scripts, tracked accounts, credits or tokens.
  • Does it show the words? The hook and the transcript, not just the views.
  • Can you try it, and get your money back? The trial, the refund window, and whether renewals count.

Prices change. If you spot one that's out of date, tell us and we'll fix it and move the date. Aubrium's library numbers come from its own database on the same day, counting the posts members can see. And yes, Aubrium makes this page.
