The best AI script writers for Instagram reels in 2026
What AI script writers do, what makes a reel script worth filming, and which is best. Our team gave eight the same five viral reels and had every script scored blind.

You found a reel that took off. A run of baking fails, say, from an account not much bigger than yours. You'd like your own version up by the weekend.
So you paste it into an AI script writer. A minute later you have a script, a list of hooks and a caption. It looks finished.
Then you read it closely. In our test, one tool's script said working out with friends "releases up to 20% more endorphins than working out alone." Another put a real brand's name on a launch that brand never made. Nobody gave them those facts. Say them on camera, and they become yours.
AI script writers save real time. But they aren't all the same, and the gaps only show when you put them side by side. This guide explains what they do and what makes a reel script good. Then it shows how eight of them did when our team gave each one the same five viral reels and had every script scored blind.
For most Instagram creators, Aubrium is the best AI script writer for reels. It writes from reels that already took off for accounts your size, and it came first when we scored eight tools' scripts blind, at 29.7 out of 35. Virlo was a close second and the easiest to film. ViralSpot was the most careful with facts.
What does an AI script writer for reels do?
It turns an idea into something you can say and shoot. You give it a reel you liked, or a topic, and it hands back your own version.
Most of them do three jobs:
Read
It works out what the reel is: what's said, what's shown, and the moment that kept people watching.
Write
It writes your script: an opening line, what to say and show next, and a close. The good ones time each part.
Finish
It adds hooks to choose from and a caption to post with.
Some start from a reel's link. Others start from a topic you type. That difference matters more than it sounds. A script built on a reel that already took off starts from an idea people clearly wanted. A script from a blank page starts from a guess.
Found a post you love? Turn it into your own script and hooks, or swap its text for yours and download it, ready to post.
What makes a reel script worth filming?
A good script is one you can pick up and shoot today, without checking every line. Our reviewers scored each script on seven things, and they make a handy checklist for any tool you try:
What a good AI script writer gets right
- Yes: Its opening line would stop you scrolling
- Yes: It keeps the beats that made the original reel work
- Yes: It doesn't make up facts, prices or statistics
- Yes: It sounds like a person talking to their phone
- Yes: It has a clear start, payoff and close
- Yes: It fits a reel of 30 to 60 seconds
- Yes: You could film it today, with what you already have
The third point is where the tools differed most. Scores for sticking to the facts ran from 1.4 to a perfect 5. A made-up number reads fine on screen. It only becomes a problem when a viewer checks it.
The last point was the hardest for everyone. No tool averaged above 4 out of 5 on it, so plan to edit whatever you get.
How we tested them
We didn't stop at each tool's website. Our team studied each app hands-on in October 2026, the way a creator would use it.
Every tool that writes got the same five viral reels: a face-wash ranking, a tinted sunscreen launch, a pilates class in a parking lot, a run of baking fails and a coffee cart's first quote. Each tool got the reel's link, or its topic where it couldn't read a link. We kept the hooks, the script and the caption each one wrote, word for word.
Then the scripts were scored blind by AI reviewers. These are AI models, software that reads text and gives it a score. Each one got the same scorecard, the seven points above, each marked from 1 to 5. Tool names were removed and the order was shuffled. Three reviewers scored all eight tools, and three more had scored seven of them in an earlier round. The totals below are out of 35.
The 8 script writers at a glance
Here's how they rank on the reviewers' total. Two columns are worth a look on their own: sticking to the facts, and whether you could film it today.
| Tool | Best for | Score /35 | Sticks to the facts /5 | Ready to film /5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Aubrium | Scripts built on reels that took off for accounts your size | 29.7 | 4.2 | 3.0 |
| 2. Virlo | Careful scripts you can shoot with what you have | 29.3 | 4.7 | 3.9 |
| 3. ViralSpot | A natural voice that won't guess a fact | 27.5 | 5.0 | 3.1 |
| 4. CreatorHouse | Punchy hooks on accounts you already follow | 27.1 | 3.2 | 2.5 |
| 5. Octupie | Lots of hooks, with little set-up | 23.9 | 4.7 | 3.6 |
| 6. Viral Outliers | A filming checklist under every script | 22.4 | 2.8 | 2.0 |
| 7. Sandcastles | A good write-up of a single video | 19.6 | 1.4 | 2.1 |
| 8. Runwave AI | Building a script beat by beat | 18.8 | 3.3 | 1.7 |
Each score is the average of three reviewers over five reels, from the second round, rounded to one decimal.
Two tools you may know aren't ranked. ViralFindr has no writer. Metricool is a scheduler with an AI assistant for posts, but writing a script from a reel isn't on its site, so it wasn't in the test.9
The 8 script writers, one by one
1. Aubrium
Library + writerFrom $49/moBest for: Scripts built on reels that took off for accounts your size
Aubrium starts where a script should: with a reel that already worked. Its library holds more than 260,000 Instagram reels and posts that reached far more people than their creators have followers, all from accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers. Each one shows its hook and how it was made.
Press Make my version on a reel, or paste a link or an idea into Create. Either way you get your own script, a list of hooks and a caption. The script is timed, shot by shot. In our test each one took about 20 seconds.
Its scripts came first in both rounds, and no reviewer scored another tool above them. They kept each reel's own idea, like the count of shades or the locked studio, and its hooks won the most "best of the reel" picks. Where it lost points was its captions, and one script that kept the original creator's own story.

2. Virlo
AI chat + research agentsFrom $49/moBest for: Careful scripts you can shoot with what you have
Virlo's assistant, Vee, writes hooks, scripts and captions in a chat. It sits next to the research agents and alerts the tool is built around, across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
Its scripts came a close second, and they were the easiest of all eight to film. Where it didn't know a number, it left a gap for yours instead of guessing. The trade-off is that they were more generic, and often dropped the beat that made the reel work. It also can't read a reel by link unless the reel is already in its library, so it wrote three of our five from the topic alone.
- Pricing
- $49 or $199 a month. Enterprise from $499.8

- Platforms
- TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts
- Score

- Reads a reel by link only if it's in its library
3. ViralSpot
AI agent + watchlistFrom $25/moBest for: A natural voice that won't guess a fact
ViralSpot is an AI agent you chat with. Paste a reel's link and it breaks the reel down, then writes hooks, a timed script and a caption. Its scripts sounded the most like a real person, and it got top marks for not making things up. Where it didn't know something, it left a blank and said why.
Two things held it back. When we told it the creator's niche, it moved three of the five reels into that niche instead of keeping the reel's topic. And each answer took three to four minutes.
- Pricing
- $25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly2
- Trial
- No trial. 14-day refund on the first payment.
- Platforms
- Score
- 27.5 out of 35
- Top marks for sticking to the facts
- The most natural voice
- Moved reels off topic when told your niche
- Slow: three to four minutes an answer
4. CreatorHouse
Watchlist + script chatFrom $39/moBest for: Punchy hooks on accounts you already follow
CreatorHouse watches accounts you type in, transcribes their videos and pulls out each one's hook. A chat then turns any video into a script, with buttons to refine it and a history of every version.
Its hooks were among the best in our test, and its captions scored highest of all eight. Its scripts stayed close to the reel, too. The problem was what they added: a six-hour sunscreen wear test, a different shade count, an espresso-machine story with prices. You'd have to check those, or live them, before you film. Its scripts also ran about 70 to 75 seconds.
- Pricing
- $39 a month or $97 a year6
- Trial
- 3 days
- Platforms
- Instagram, TikTok
- Score
- 27.1 out of 35
- Strong hooks and the best captions
- Close to the reel's own beats
- Adds details that weren't in the reel
- No search: you type in every account
5. Octupie
Account search + AI strategistFrom $29/moBest for: Lots of hooks, with little set-up
Octupie's Studio is an AI strategist that writes hooks, captions and scripts, with a shoot plan and notes on how to say each line. It picks accounts in your niche for you, so there's little to set up.
It wrote the most hooks, about 43 a reel, and about a third fit the reel well enough to use. Its scripts were safe, with few made-up facts, but short: around 20 to 30 seconds of fairly vague lines. One caveat: its plan capped new scripts, so ours came through its edit step, which may not show its best.
- Pricing
- $29 or $49 a month3
- Trial
- 7 days
- Platforms
- Score
- 23.9 out of 35
- Careful with facts
- A shoot plan with every script
- Short, vague scripts
- Lots of hooks to sort through
6. Viral Outliers
Text search, three platformsFrom $17/moBest for: A filming checklist under every script
Viral Outliers' Content Remix takes a public post's link, your topic and a tone, and writes one script with a caption and a checklist of what to film. A one-click template turns any script into fill-in-the-blanks.
Its scripts kept the source's format, but only Sandcastles did worse on the facts. One swapped the reel's brand for e.l.f. and wrote "Elf just dropped not 10 or 12, but 15 new shades", with "SPF 30". Another retold the pilates creator's own morning almost word for word. It writes no list of hooks.
- Pricing
- $17, $37 or $149 a month5
- Trial
- 7 days, with a card
- Platforms
- Instagram, TikTok, YouTube
- Score
- 22.4 out of 35
- A filming checklist with every script
- Three platforms and an API
- Put made-up facts on a real brand
- No hook list
7. Sandcastles
Watchlist + global searchFrom $49/moBest for: A good write-up of a single video
Sandcastles writes a script in four steps: a topic, some research, a choice of six hooks, then the script. It covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, and its write-up of a single video reads well.
Its scripts lost the most points in our test for facts nobody can back up. One said working out together "releases up to 20% more endorphins than working out alone". Another said "Over 60% of tinted sunscreens come in one shade". They also ran 75 to 95 seconds for reels of a minute or less, with no caption. Each video breakdown and each script costs a credit.
- Trial
- No free plan. No refunds from Pro up.
- Platforms
- Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
- Score
- 19.6 out of 35
- Three platforms
- Good single-video write-ups
- Scripts add made-up statistics
- No caption, and scripts run long
8. Runwave AI
Live pulls + script studioFrom $19/moBest for: Building a script beat by beat
Runwave's Script Studio builds a script one beat at a time, from named frameworks, with a shot list and a grader that's honest about what it can't know. It's a nice editor to work in, and it says it's built for creators who post about AI tools.
On our five reels, though, its "your version" was mostly the original. Each script opened on the source reel's first line and reused the creator's own words. Its hook writer wasn't told what the reel was about, so a face-wash ranking got hooks about side hustles. It wrote no caption, and no script at all for the fifth reel, because the plan's monthly limit had run out.
- Pricing
- $19 or $39 a month. First month of Starter $5.7
- Trial
- The $5 first month
- Platforms
- Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
- Score
- 18.8 out of 35
- A clean beat-by-beat editor
- A cheap first month
- Reused the source creator's words
- Hooks unrelated to the reel
The numbers behind the ranking
If you want the detail, here it is: the overall scores first, then the three places the tools differed most.
Who wrote the best scripts overall?
Every tool got the same five reels, and six reviewers scored the results without knowing which tool wrote them.
Aubrium came first in both rounds, and no reviewer scored another tool above it. In the second round it was ranked on each of the five reels by each of the three reviewers, and it never placed below third. Virlo was close behind both times. Treat the gap between those two as small, and the gap to the rest as real.
Which ones made things up?
This was the widest gap of all. Some tools filled their scripts with things that weren't in the reel. Others refused to guess.
Sandcastles wrote that working out together "releases up to 20% more endorphins than working out alone". CreatorHouse added a six-hour wear test to the sunscreen reel. Viral Outliers pinned a launch on e.l.f. that the reel never mentioned.
Claims you'd have to check before you say them on camera.ViralSpot and Virlo left a blank wherever they didn't know a fact, like a price or a score, so you can fill in your own.
ViralSpot 5.0 and Virlo 4.7 out of 5 for sticking to the facts.Aubrium scored 4.2 here. Most of its lines kept to what the reel showed, but the reviewers flagged a few, like a hook saying a shade "oxidises two levels darker by lunchtime".
Which ones can you film today?
No tool averaged above 4 out of 5 on this, so expect to edit whatever you get. Virlo came closest, at 3.9: clear shots, placeholders for your numbers, and a close every time. Octupie's short scripts were easy to shoot, too, at 3.6.
Aubrium scored 3.0. Its scripts were tight and timed, but for the coffee cart it handed over the original creator's own story, family and prices as if they were yours. That's hard to film unless it happened to you. Runwave, Viral Outliers and Sandcastles scored lowest, mostly for retelling someone else's life or adding facts you don't have.
Length counts here too. Our reviewers scored against a reel of 30 to 60 seconds, roughly 75 to 170 spoken words. Aubrium's scripts fitted best, at 4.7 out of 5. Sandcastles' ran 75 to 95 seconds, CreatorHouse's about 70 to 75, and Octupie's were short, at around 20 to 30.
Did they keep what made the reel work?
A good version keeps the beat that made people watch. CreatorHouse and Aubrium did this best, at 4.7 and 4.5 out of 5. Aubrium kept the reel's countdown of shades ("didn't do ten, didn't do twelve, fifteen"), the dark studio, and the sourdough starter that didn't make it.
Others drifted. When we told ViralSpot the creator's niche, it turned the pilates, baking and coffee-cart reels into beauty stories: a DIY-hair night, beauty fails and a gel manicure. Virlo, given the same niche, wrote a makeup review for the baking reel. Aubrium wasn't told anything about the creator, which made its job simpler. That's in our limits below.
Which one is right for you?

| want the easiest script to filmwith what you already have | Virlo |
| never want a made-up fact, and don't mind filling in blanks | ViralSpot |
| already knowwhose videos to learn from, and want punchy hooks | CreatorHouse, then check the facts |
| post the same videoto TikTok and Shorts too | Virlo |
| mostly need opening lines | Aubrium or CreatorHouse, in our hook generator ranking |
Questions people ask
What's the best AI script writer for Instagram reels?
For most Instagram creators, Aubrium. It came first in our blind test, at 29.7 out of 35, and it writes from reels that took off for accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers.
Can an AI write a script from someone else's reel?
Yes. Most of the tools here take a reel's link; Virlo reads one only if the reel is already in its library. Keep the idea and make the facts your own. A script that retells another creator's life isn't something you can film.
Do AI script writers make things up?
Some do. In our test, Sandcastles added statistics like "up to 20% more endorphins", and Viral Outliers put a made-up launch on a real brand. ViralSpot and Virlo left blanks instead. Check every number before you say it on camera.
How long should a reel script be?
For a reel of 30 to 60 seconds, roughly 75 to 170 spoken words. That's the range our reviewers scored against. Several tools ran long: Sandcastles' scripts ran 75 to 95 seconds.
Is ChatGPT a good script writer for reels?
It wasn't part of our test. ChatGPT writes on almost any topic, starting from what you tell it. Aubrium starts from a reel that already took off, and you can use it inside ChatGPT too.
Were the reviewers people?
No. They were AI models, given one scorecard, with the tool names removed and the order shuffled, in two rounds of three. They can't favour a name they can't see, but they aren't your audience either. Treat the scores as a guide, not a verdict.

How we did this
Our team studied each app hands-on in October 2026, using it the way a creator would. Every tool that writes got the same five viral reels, by link where it could read one and by topic where it couldn't. We kept every hook, script and caption as written. Where a plan capped a step, we used what it allowed and counted only what it produced.
The scripts were scored blind by AI reviewers, with one scorecard and no tool names, in two rounds of three. The first round had seven tools; Viral Outliers joined in the second. Six of the tools were told the creator's niche, beauty and lifestyle. Aubrium and CreatorHouse weren't told anything about the creator. Five reels is a small sample, and tools change, Aubrium included: these are the scripts each one wrote in October 2026.
Prices are from each tool's own pricing page, read on 22 October 2026. Aubrium's library numbers come from its own database, read on 23 October 2026. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it and move the date. And yes, Aubrium makes this page.
