"The Back Window Comes Out." That's the whole hook, shown on screen and said out loud, from an account with 37,491 followers. It reached 222 million views, more than any other car sales reel in Aubrium's library.
Car sales is a niche of dealers and salespeople, and the hook they use most, the bold claim, went among the shortest distances of any type: 13 times followers for the middle reel. We went through all 943 viral car sales reels, from 752 creators, to see which openings carried instead. It's one page of the hooks that work in every niche, and what goes viral in each niche covers the rest of the car world.
Bold claims are the most common hook on viral car sales reels, on 18% of them, but they travelled among the shortest distances of any type: 13 times the creator's followers for the middle one, with number lists at 14. Relatable lines and warnings tied for furthest, both at 58 times. 60% put the hook on screen, and the middle hook runs 10 words.

What kind of hook works best for car sales reels?
Relatable lines and warnings, not the bold claims dealers reach for most. Both sit low on this chart by count and at the top by distance.
Look at the gap. Bold claims are the biggest group, on 18% of these reels, and the middle one reached 13 times its creator's followers. Relatable lines are on only 9%, yet the middle one reached 58 times. Warnings matched that from just 35 reels, and POV hooks reached 49. Then there's the 18% with no hook of any type, and the middle one of those still reached 27 times its creator's followers.

How long should a car sales hook be?
Either very short or around 10 words. What fell away was length past 12.
Hooks of 1–4 words reached 37 times followers for the middle reel and 9–12 words 39, about as far as each other. 5–8 words sat lower, at 29. Past 20 words the middle reel reached 11 times, the lowest of any length. Cut the line when it starts explaining the whole deal.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Write it. A salesperson's instinct is to talk, but on these reels the line on screen went further.
The middle reel with its hook only as text reached 43 times its creator's followers. Text and voice together reached 20, and a spoken hook alone 16. A voice alone still opens 25% of these reels, and another 27% say it and show it, so talking is common here. It just travelled less far.
How do viral car sales hooks start?
"POV" opens 40 of the 491 English hooks, far ahead of any other first word. Next come "I", "this" and "when" at 17 each, then "hey" at 16, the way you'd greet someone walking onto the lot.

We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's car sales niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 491 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
