The best hooks for fitness reels, from 16,974 that went viral

We read the opening line of every viral fitness reel in Aubrium's library: which hooks show up most, which travelled furthest, and 16 real ones to learn from.

Aubrium ResearchEditorial · Updated

An account with 1,461 followers posted a reel with one line on it: "Pov: you slept for 3 hours and decided to go gym." It got 27 million views.

That line did a lot of work in about two seconds. So we went through the opening line of all 16,974 viral fitness reels in Aubrium's library, from 13,320 creators, to see which hooks keep turning up and which ones travel furthest. We only counted reels: carousels and photos carry no view count to compare, and how the three formats differ is its own question. For other niches, see the best hooks for Instagram reels, niche by niche and what goes viral in each niche.

How we did this

We looked at every fitness reel in Aubrium's library on 21 October 2026: 16,974 reels from 13,320 creators with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, each of which reached at least twice its creator's follower count and at least 10,000 views. A reel counts as fitness when it sits in Aubrium's Fitness category: filed in one of its 20 niches, from gym culture to pilates, or labelled fitness by Aubrium's reader.

Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 7,668 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
