How long should a dad life hook be?
Short ones went furthest, though most dads write 9 words or more.
The 64 hooks of 1–4 words reached 48 times their creator's followers for the middle reel. From 5 to 20 words it sat between 25 and 28 times, then dropped to 15 past 20 words. So the very short line stands out, and the long monologue lags behind. "THE ULTIMATE DAD MOVE 🤯" is the kind of line that fits the short end.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Put it on screen. 58% of viral dad life reels show the hook as text alone.
Those reached 37 times their creator's followers for the middle reel. A hook that's only spoken reached 23, and text with a voice reached 19. Plenty of dad reels open on someone talking anyway, but the line people can read with the sound off is the one that travelled.
How do viral dad life hooks start?
Dads open with "POV" most, 67 times. "I" and "when" tie next at 35. Then come "daddy" at 17 and "dad" at 16, the niche calling itself by name.
