The best ViralSpot alternatives for finding viral reels (2026)

ViralSpot writes human-sounding scripts, but its reels come from the accounts you and its users track. Seven alternatives our team tested hands-on, ours included.

Aubrium ResearchEditorial · Updated

ViralSpot is easy to like. It's one plan at $25 a month, with no credits to count.1 You chat with an AI agent, and it breaks reels down and writes scripts that sound like a real person talking. When it doesn't know a fact, it leaves a blank instead of guessing.

The trouble is finding the reels in the first place. Since its 1.0 update in October 2026, its Outliers feed shows only the accounts you track, up to 20.2 To look further, you ask the agent. It searches a collection built from what ViralSpot's users track, so if nobody follows your topic, there isn't much there.

That's the main reason people look around. There are a few more: no country filter, suggestions that lean towards very big accounts, and search results that often aren't about the words you typed.

This guide covers seven alternatives. Our team studied each app hands-on in October 2026, ViralSpot included, and we'll show you where each one is strong and where it falls short. We make Aubrium, one of the seven, so read with that in mind. We've also put ViralSpot and Aubrium side by side on their own page.

The short answer

If you're leaving ViralSpot, Aubrium is the best pick for most Instagram creators. You search a library instead of a watchlist, and every reel comes from an account with 1,000 to 100,000 followers. On the same 90 keywords, it had more than 4,000 recent reels to ViralSpot's 532, and its scripts came first in our blind test. If you want TikTok and Shorts too, Virlo is the closest swap.

What is ViralSpot good at?

Quite a lot, and it's worth saying first. If writing is the part you use most, you may miss it.

One price, no credits

$25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly, with "Unlimited credits" on the plan.1 Its MCP server, which links it to Claude and ChatGPT, comes with it.3

Scripts that sound human

In our blind test, its scripts sounded the most natural of eight tools, and it never made up a fact. Where it didn't know a price, it left a blank and said why.

An honest agent

It shows each step as it works, and tells you what it couldn't check. In one of our searches it said plainly: "The index is a sample, not complete coverage."

Fresh posts from accounts you track

Once you add an account, its new posts show up within hours.2 Its page audit and its weekly hooks report were among the most useful things it made for us.

If you need a break, you can pause for a month instead of cancelling.1 And your first payment comes with a full refund within 14 days.4

Why do people look for a ViralSpot alternative?

Mostly because of where its reels come from. Here's what that looked like in our tests.

1

Your watchlist is the feed

Its Outliers page shows only the accounts you track: up to 20, and each slot locks for three days once you fill it.

2

The wider search is thin

Looking further means asking the agent. It searches posts from accounts its users track, and 39 of our 161 searches for accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers found nothing.

3

Results miss your words

It turns what you type into its own topic labels. It read "cat" as catering, and 63% of the results that showed a caption had none of the words we searched.

4

Its suggestions are big

Asked for accounts to follow for a creator with about 15,000 followers, the smallest it offered had 1.8 million.

5

No country

It doesn't show where a creator is, and it has no country or language filter.

6

Carousels as pictures

It draws the words into AI pictures, so you can't edit a slide's text. One of ours came back with fill-in brackets drawn into the pictures.

None of this makes it a bad tool. If you already know the 20 accounts you want to learn from, it may be all you need. If you don't, read on.

What should you look for in a ViralSpot alternative?

Here's the checklist we used. Most lines are one of the reasons above, turned around.

What a good ViralSpot alternative gets right

  • Yes: It finds reels from accounts you don't know yet, not only ones you track
  • Yes: It shows reels from accounts your size, not mostly famous ones
  • Yes: Its "viral" reels really did beat what their account usually gets
  • Yes: Its search finds posts about what you typed
  • Yes: You can see where creators are, and filter by country
  • Yes: If it writes scripts, it doesn't make up facts

ViralSpot does well on the last line. If its writing is what you'll miss, look hardest at that one.

How we tested them

We didn't stop at each tool's website. Our team used each app the way a creator would, from the inside, ViralSpot included.

We ran more than 1,300 searches across the tools that have a search box, with the same keywords in each, and kept every result. For each one we noted who posted it, how many followers they had, how the reel did, and whether it matched what we searched for. In ViralSpot, that kind of search lives inside the agent, so we asked the agent to run each keyword with the same settings. We ran the same keywords on Aubrium's library, so the comparison is like for like.

For the writing, every tool that writes got the same five viral reels: a face-wash ranking, a tinted sunscreen launch, a pilates class in a parking lot, a run of baking fails and a coffee cart's first quote. The scripts were then scored blind by AI reviewers, software that reads text and scores it, with one scorecard and no tool names, in two separate rounds.

ViralSpot alternatives at a glance

Here's how the seven rank once you put them through all of that. On the same tests, ViralSpot itself would sit between Virlo and CreatorHouse. The full reviews follow, then the numbers behind the ranking.

The seven alternatives, one by one

1. Aubrium

LibraryFrom $49/mo

Best for: Finding viral reels from accounts your size

Aubrium is a library, not a watchlist. It holds Instagram reels and posts that reached far more people than their creator has followers, and every account in it has between 1,000 and 100,000 followers. Its reels come from its own scans of Instagram, so you don't need to know the accounts first.

There are more than 260,000 posts in it today, from more than 190,000 creators, filed into 350+ niches by what each post is about. Pick a niche or type a topic, then filter by country, format, hook type, whether someone talks to camera and whether it's AI-made. Every post has already been read, so its hook and format are there before you open it.

If you'll miss ViralSpot's tracking, My Rivals does that part. Add accounts like yours, and it flags the reel that's breaking out against that account's usual. Make my version writes your own script, hooks and a caption from any reel, and its carousel slides are text you can edit. It all works inside ChatGPT and Claude.

2. Virlo

AI search + research agentsFrom $49/mo

Best for: Teams who want alerts across TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Virlo is the closest swap if you like asking an assistant for reels and want TikTok and YouTube Shorts as well. You chat with it, set up research agents that keep collecting videos on a topic, and get alerts when something takes off. Pro comes with 3 team seats.7

Its writing came second in our blind test, close behind ours, and like ViralSpot it's careful not to make things up. Finding Instagram reels is its weak side. Instagram is a small share of what it holds, and its search matches an AI summary of each video rather than the words in it, so half of the results we got didn't have the keyword in the caption. Most of the Instagram reels its research agents collected for us hadn't beaten the account's own followers.

It also can't read a reel from a link unless that reel is already in its library. And unlike ViralSpot, it runs on credits.

3. CreatorHouse

WatchlistFrom $39/mo

Best for: Transcripts of accounts you already follow

CreatorHouse is a watchlist, like ViralSpot's feed, but with no cap on how many accounts you follow, and TikTok as well as Instagram.9 You type in the accounts. It transcribes any of their videos you pick, on-screen text and all, and pulls out its hook. Its chat turns a video into a script, and its hooks were among the strongest in our blind test.

It has no search, so it suits people who already know whose content to learn from. If you don't know yet, its suggestions lean towards very famous accounts: across its 19 niche lists, the typical suggested account had 3.8 million followers.

Its scripts also added details that weren't in the reel, like a six-hour sunscreen wear test, so it's less careful with facts than ViralSpot. And when we tracked a lot of accounts at once, the feed stopped loading at about 40.

4. Octupie

Account search + picked feedFrom $29/mo

Best for: Research done for you, on accounts it picks

Octupie is for people who'd rather not build a watchlist at all. You tell it your niche, and it "finds the top accounts in it, watches them for you," and flags the reels that break out.11 It writes lots of hooks, around 40 a reel, and its scripts come in your language, Hinglish included.12

It's also kind on money: 7 days with no card, then a full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals included.12, 13 ViralSpot refunds only the first payment.

The trade-off is what you see. Like ViralSpot's feed, it only shows the accounts being watched, and it can't search posts, only accounts by their name and bio. The accounts it returned had a typical 224,000 followers. About a third of its hooks fit the reel well enough to use, and its scripts were short, 20 to 30 seconds.

5. Viral Outliers

Text search, three platformsFrom $17/mo

Best for: A search box you control, on three platforms

Viral Outliers gives you what ViralSpot keeps inside its chat: a search box, with the filters on screen. It searches posts across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and scores each one against its account's average.14 You can set your own follower range, from any minimum to any maximum.16 An API and an MCP connector come with every plan.15

Its search matches any text that contains your letters, so a search for "cat" pulled in posts about "education". Its default results lean towards big accounts: the typical one had 212,433 followers. And when we filtered to Instagram accounts under 100,000, 45% of the results did worse than their own account usually does.

Its script writer also put a real brand on facts that weren't in the reel. That's the opposite of ViralSpot's careful blanks.

6. Sandcastles

Watchlist + global searchFrom $49/mo

Best for: Posting the same video on three platforms

Sandcastles is a watchlist too, but a much bigger one, and it covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts in one place.17 Pro watches up to 150 channels per workspace, and on Pro and up, a global search looks past your list by the words in captions and titles.18 Its write-up of a single video reads well.

Its search leans towards big accounts, and a lot of what it finds is old. In the same 147 searches, the typical account in its top results had 125,849 followers, against Aubrium's 5,607, and 24% of its top results were posted before 2024. Reading a video's breakdown costs a credit each time, and there's no country filter. Its scripts lost the most points in our test for adding statistics nobody can back up.

7. Runwave AI

Live pullsFrom $19/mo

Best for: Creators who post about AI tools

Runwave pulls reels live from the accounts and keywords you give it, across Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.21 Its script outline editor is nice to use, and there's an MCP server for Claude. Its first month of Starter is $5, so it's a cheap experiment.20 Read its home page first, though: it says it's built for creators who post about AI tools and automation.20

In our test it couldn't find anything. Its data provider was out of credits, so every search came back empty. About a quarter of its AI requests failed with a message that its AI was busy. And its hook writer wasn't told what the reel was about, so it wrote hooks about side hustles for a skincare reel.

The numbers behind the ranking

If you want the detail, here it is. Each part puts ViralSpot first, so you can see what you'd be swapping.

Whose reels do they show you?

ViralSpot's feed shows the accounts you track, so the real question is what its wider search finds. We asked it for reels from the last 30 days by accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, and it came back thin.

4,000+reels from Aubrium, across 90 keywords
532reels from ViralSpot, across the same 90

Reels from the last 30 days, by accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers. Our tests, October 2026.

ViralSpot found nothing for 32 of those keywords, and Aubrium for 16. The pool behind its search is built from what its users track, and we watched it move. When we added ten small beauty creators to a watchlist, a search for "mascara" went from 1 result to 20 within 25 minutes. Every new one came from the accounts we'd just added.

So what you find depends on what other people happen to follow. One beauty account with about 19,000 followers came up in the top three of 33 of the 117 searches that found anything, "parenting" and "camera gear reviews" among them.

Here's how that compares with the accounts the other tools showed us:

Did the reels really beat their account?

Here ViralSpot does well. Every post its search returned had beaten its account's usual views, by its own measure. The catch is that the measure can move: one reel scored 154.8 in its search and 7.9 when the agent read the account live.

What we found when we checked the numbers

  • Partly: ViralSpot: every search result beat its account's usual, but one reel scored 154.8 in one place and 7.9 in another
  • No: Viral Outliers: filtered to Instagram accounts under 100,000, 45% of results did worse than their creator's usual
  • No: Virlo: 87% of the Instagram reels its beauty research agent collected had fewer views than the account has followers
  • No: Sandcastles: 7% of its "outlier" scores were broken, with the score equal to the view count
  • Yes: Aubrium: every reel reached far more people than its creator has followers

In Aubrium, the typical reel reached 18 times its creator's followers.

Does the search find what you typed?

This is ViralSpot's weakest spot. It turns your words into its own topic labels first, and then searches those.

ToolWhat its search really matchesWhat we found

It also gave the same seven posts for "outfit", "streetwear" and "modest fashion". And across 60 niche names, it found 927 recent posts from accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, where Aubrium had more than 3,900, each filed by what it's about.

Country is part of this too. ViralSpot shows no country, and it has no country or language filter. Aubrium knows the creator's country for 96% of its posts, across 200 countries, and lets you filter by it. Octupie, Viral Outliers and CreatorHouse showed no country either, Sandcastles has no country filter, and Virlo had a region on 4% of its Instagram results.

Whose scripts are best?

This is where ViralSpot is strongest, so it's worth a careful look. Every tool that writes got the same five reels, and six reviewers scored the results without knowing which tool wrote them.

Aubrium came first in both rounds, and no reviewer scored another tool above it. ViralSpot came third, just behind Virlo, and the two leaders are good at different things:

Where ViralSpot did best

Its scripts sounded the most human of the eight, and it never made up a fact. Where it didn't know a price, it left a blank: "I left blanks so you don't claim anything that didn't happen."

Top marks of all eight for sticking to the facts.
Where Aubrium did best

Its hooks were the reviewers' favourite, with 8 of the 15 "best hook of the reel" picks to ViralSpot's 2. For the sunscreen launch, the favourite opener was Aubrium's: "Five shades on one cheek, watch which one disappears."

First overall, and the highest marks for hooks.

Two more differences matter day to day. When we told ViralSpot the creator's niche, it moved three of the five reels into that niche instead of keeping the reel's own topic. And it took three to four minutes an answer, where Aubrium wrote its script, hooks and caption in about 20 seconds.

Questions people ask

What is the best ViralSpot alternative?

For most Instagram creators, Aubrium. You search a library of reels from accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers instead of a 20-account watchlist, and its scripts scored highest in our blind test. If you want TikTok and Shorts too, try Virlo.

Is there a cheaper alternative to ViralSpot?

A little cheaper, yes. Viral Outliers starts at $17 a month, and Runwave AI at $19 with a $5 first month.15, 20 ViralSpot is $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly.1 Aubrium starts at $49 a month.5

Can ViralSpot find reels outside my watchlist?

Only through its agent. The agent searches posts from the accounts ViralSpot's users track, so a topic nobody follows comes back thin. In our tests, 39 of 161 searches for accounts with 1,000 to 100,000 followers found nothing.

Does ViralSpot have a free trial?

No. It has no free plan or trial, but it refunds your first payment in full within 14 days, once per account. Renewals aren't refunded.4 Aubrium refunds a first plan in full within 15 days.6

Does ViralSpot have a country filter?

No. In our tests it showed no creator's country, and it had no country or language filter. Aubrium knows the creator's country for 96% of its posts and lets you filter by it.

Does ViralSpot work for TikTok?

Not for finding reels. Its own guide for AI agents lists "platforms other than Instagram" under when not to use it.22 Virlo, Sandcastles, Viral Outliers and Runwave AI cover TikTok and YouTube too, and CreatorHouse covers TikTok.

Can I use them inside ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, with most of them. ViralSpot's MCP server comes with its plan.3 Aubrium works inside ChatGPT and Claude, and Viral Outliers, Sandcastles (Pro and up) and Runwave AI have MCP servers too.14, 17, 21 Virlo sells its MCP server pay as you go.8

Each of these goes deeper on one tool or question from this page:

How we did this

Our team studied each app hands-on in October 2026, using it the way a creator would, ViralSpot included. We ran more than 1,300 searches across the tools that have one, with the same keyword list in each, and saved every result: the account, its followers, the views, the tool's own score and the caption. In ViralSpot that search runs inside the agent, so the agent ran it for us with fixed settings. We ran the same keywords on Aubrium's library. The five script reels were the same for every tool. Where a plan capped a step, we used what it allowed and counted only what it produced.

The scripts were scored blind by AI reviewers with one scorecard and no tool names, in two rounds of three. Prices, trials and refund terms are from each tool's own site, read on 22 October 2026. Aubrium's numbers come from its own database, read on 23 October 2026. ViralSpot changed a lot in its 1.0 update on 10 October 2026, and apps keep changing. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it and move the date. And yes, Aubrium makes this page.
