For hooks in every niche, start with the best hooks for Instagram reels, and what goes viral in each niche covers the rest.

How long should an adult ADHD hook be?
Longer than you might guess. Only 29% of the English hooks are 8 words or fewer, and the middle one runs 12 words.
Length didn't sort them neatly. The 27 hooks of 1–4 words travelled 29 times their creator's followers, 9–12 words did 22, and the rest sat between 14 and 16. Many of these hooks set up a whole scene in one sentence, like the work-task line above, and a scene takes words.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. 94% of viral adult ADHD reels put the hook on screen, and 46% both show it and say it.
A hook that's only written went furthest: the middle reel reached 22 times its creator's followers, against 14 when the hook was shown and spoken too. Hooks that are only spoken are rare here, just 6%.
