What kind of hook works best for child development reels?
Curiosity gaps open 23% of viral child development reels, and questions 15%. No other type passes 8%.
On reach, relatable lines went 28× for the middle reel, ahead of warnings at 24×. Several types sit at 19×: questions, bold claims and number lists. POV hooks reached 51×, but only 19 reels use one, too few to read. And 13% of these reels have no hook of any type.

Shorter hooks went further here. The middle hook is 9 words, and the shortest ones, 1 to 4 words, travelled furthest.
Those 1 to 4 word hooks are only 9% of the English hooks, but their middle reel went 23× its account's followers. The 5 to 8 word band, the biggest at 36%, went 19×, and the longer bands sat between 14× and 17×.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Write it on screen. 66% of viral child development reels open on text alone, and 25% show the words and say them too.
