Unique stays sell the place itself: a treehouse, a castle, a bed under the sea. Often the hook only has to name it. We went through every viral unique stays reel in Aubrium's library, 700+ of them from 600+ creators, and read how each one opens. The hooks that work on Instagram reels overall have their own page, and so does the list of every niche we looked at.
Curiosity gaps are the most common hook on viral unique stays reels, at 20%, then aspirational and relatable lines. No type pulled clearly ahead: relatable lines, curiosity gaps and POV hooks all reached 21 to 23 times their creator's followers. 79% of these reels put the hook on screen, and hooks of 5 to 8 words travelled furthest.

How long should a unique stays hook be?
Keep it to 5 to 8 words. That band travelled furthest, at 22 times its creator's followers, though the middle hook runs a little longer, at 10.
Under 5 words, the middle reel reached 14 times. From 9 words up it was 13, then 10. Five to eight words is room to name the place and one odd thing about it: "Sleeping underwater on The Great Barrier Reef" fits, at seven. Only 40% of these hooks are 8 words or under.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it on screen. 79% of viral unique stays reels show the hook as text, and 63% use text with no voice.
Text with no voice went furthest by a wide margin: 19 times its creator's followers, against 10 when the text was also read aloud and 11 for a voice alone. Only 8% of these reels open on a voice by itself. A stay is something to look at, and the line on screen just tells you what you're looking at.
How do viral unique stays hooks start?
"This" leads, on 20 hooks, just ahead of "POV" on 18 and "the" on 14. Further down, "come" opens 5 and "okay" another 5, the sound of a host waving you through the door.
