We read the opening line of every viral luxury travel reel in Aubrium's library: which hooks show up most, which travelled furthest, and 16 real ones to learn from.
"oh to be a child jumping on a trampoline on a super yacht in capri". That's the whole line, lower case and all. It sat on a reel that reached 10.5 million views, from a creator with 67,569 followers.
Luxury travel hooks pull in two directions. Some sell the dream outright: the yacht, the suite, the first-class seat. Others tease the same thing for less, or show what the brochure leaves out. We read the openings of the 700+ viral luxury travel reels in Aubrium's library, from 600+ creators, to see which kinds turn up and how far each one carried. The best hooks for Instagram reels, niche by niche has the wider picture, and every niche we looked at is listed on one page.
Curiosity gaps open the most viral luxury travel reels, at 16%, with aspirational lines next at 13%. POV hooks are rarer, at 6%, but the middle one drew views 28 times its creator's following. 72% show the hook as text on screen, and 24% have no hook of any type.

What kind of hook works best for luxury travel reels?
Curiosity gaps, more than any other kind, at 16%. Aspirational lines follow at 13%, which fits a niche of suites and private cabins.
Reach tells a different story. The 44 POV hooks reached 28× for the middle one. Number lists and negative hooks came close, at 26×, but there are only 18 and 14 of them. Bold claims are the third most common kind, yet they reached just 11×. And 24% of these reels have no hook of any type: they open straight on the footage, and the middle one still carried 17×.

How long should a luxury travel hook be?
There's no single best length here. The middle hook runs 11 words, and hooks of 5 to 8 words went as far as hooks past 20.
Both of those groups reached 18× for the middle reel. The bands in between sat at 12× and 10×, and the shortest, 1 to 4 words, at 9×. Length alone doesn't sort the hits from the rest in luxury travel.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. 56% of these reels put the hook on screen as text alone, and that group carried furthest.
Silent text reached 21× for the middle reel. A voice on its own reached 13×, and text read aloud 11×. Only 9% speak the hook with no words on screen. In a niche this visual, the picture does most of the talking.

Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 290+ reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
