How to go viral in the luxury travel niche on Instagram
What 700+ viral luxury travel reels have in common: what they show, how they start, what they sound like, and who posts them. Real numbers from Aubrium's library.

Not every viral luxury travel reel is a suite. A montage about a young male leopard named Chisomo reached 20 million views, from an account with 41,279 followers. Its caption says he appears to have moved into a more remote part of South Luangwa as he's grown up, and that they're hoping for another glimpse of him this season.
The rest of the niche is closer to what you'd guess: villas, cabins, lounges and hotel rooms. 140+ of the 700+ viral luxury travel reels we hold topped a million views. The middle reel came from an account with 14,516 followers. This page follows on from our guide to what kind of reels go viral, and what goes viral in each niche has the full list of niches.
Tours and montages make up most viral luxury travel reels, at 42% and 29%. 60% keep faces out of shot, 80% carry text and 50% run a song. The 8% filmed plainly on a phone drew views 38 times their account's size for the middle reel, against 17× for polished footage.

What kind of luxury travel reels go viral?
Tours lead, at 42%, and montages follow at 29%. Walk the guest through the room, or cut the best shots together: between them, that's the bulk of the niche.
Stories are where reach jumps. Only 10% of these reels tell one, but the middle story drew views 34 times its account's following, against 17× for tours and montages alike. POV reels went further, 48×, though there are only 16 of them. Lists, at 6%, sat at 18×, and voiceovers over footage trailed at 7×.
Do you need to show your face?
No. 60% of viral luxury travel reels keep a face out of shot, and 35% have nobody in shot at all. Faceless reels reached 20× for the middle one, against 13× when a face appears. Only 12% have someone talking to camera: here the room is the star, not the reviewer.
Should luxury travel reels have text on screen?
Yes, but lightly. 80% put text on screen: 75% stick to a line or two, and only 6% write a lot. Reach sat level either way, 17× to 18× for the middle reel, whether it had a line, a paragraph or nothing.
Trending song or your own sound?
A song, for 50% of them, a clear step up from the library-wide 37%. 40% keep their own sound. Borrowed audio is the outlier on reach: its middle reel hit 27×, while a song sat at 18× and the creator's own sound at 15×.
What hooks work for luxury travel reels?
Curiosity gaps lead, at 16%, then aspirational lines at 13%. POV hooks are only 6%, but they carried furthest on this chart: 28× for the middle one, against 21× for relatable lines. 24% open with no real hook, and the middle hook takes 11 words.
