Astrology hooks lean on names: a sign, a month, a planet. We sorted the first lines of 966 viral astrology reels in Aubrium's library, from 670 creators, by kind and by reach. It's part of our hooks guide for every niche, and what goes viral in each niche lists the others we read.
The most common hooks on viral astrology reels are curiosity gaps (25%), bold claims (21%) and callouts (16%). Curiosity gaps also went furthest, with a middle reel at 22 times the creator's followers. 71% show the hook as text on screen, and the shortest hooks, 1 to 4 words, travelled further than long ones.

What kind of hook works best for astrology reels?
Curiosity gaps lead, at 25%, then bold claims at 21% and callouts at 16%.
Here the most common type is also the one that went furthest. The middle curiosity gap reached 22×; a bold claim, 11×; a callout, 10×. Questions and relatable lines reached 17×. And almost every viral astrology reel has a hook: only 3% have no hook of any type.

How long should an astrology hook be?
Short. The typical hook runs 11 words, but reach fell with every step up in length.
Hooks of 1 to 4 words reached 21 times their creator's followers. Past 20 words, the middle reel reached 8. Short lines like "5 Scorpio Facts" lean on the sign's name.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. Text alone opens 48% of them, 27% say the hook out loud, and 23% do both.
Written-only hooks went much further, the middle one at 24×. Spoken hooks and hooks both written and said reached 10× each. In a niche where 50% of reels are someone talking to camera, a line on screen sets yours apart.
How do viral astrology hooks start?
No single word dominates: "the" opens 22 hooks, and "I", "if" and "when" open 18 each. Then come the signs: Gemini 15, Taurus 13, Cancer 12.

We looked at every astrology reel in Aubrium's library on 22 October 2026: 966 reels from 670 creators with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, each of which reached at least twice its creator's follower count and at least 10,000 views. We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's astrology niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 503 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
