How long should a grad school hook be?
Short. The middle grad school hook is 11 words, yet the ones that travelled furthest were 8 words or fewer.
Hooks of four words or fewer and hooks of 5–8 words both reached 24 times their creator's followers for the middle reel. From there it slides: 17 at 9–12 words, 16 at 13–20, and 10 past 20. Only 34% are 8 words or fewer, so most grad school creators write longer hooks than the ones that went furthest.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. 68% of viral grad school reels put the hook on screen as text alone, and that's where it travelled furthest.
The middle text-only reel reached 28 times its creator's followers. Hooks that were said and shown reached 12, and hooks spoken alone 10. Only 12% rely on a voice alone.
