How to go viral in the solo travel niche on Instagram

What 800+ viral solo travel reels have in common: what they show, how they start, what they sound like, and who posts them. Real numbers from Aubrium's library.

Aubrium ResearchEditorial · Updated

"I don't think I've slept one single minute the entire night. It's just so loud. There it is." A story reel that opens on those words reached 24.5 million views, from an account with 11,538 followers. A year on, its caption says, the creator still has no idea whether the noise was a dingo, a person or the wind.

That's solo travel on Instagram: one person, one camera, and a story told in the first person. Stories are the biggest format in the niche, and "I" is the word its hooks start with most. Of the 800+ viral solo travel reels in Aubrium's library, 180+ topped a million views. The middle reel came from an account with 11,818 followers. For what holds in every niche, see the main guide to what kind of reels go viral. What goes viral in each niche has the others.
