How long should a fishing hook be?
Ten words is the middle, and hooks of 8 words or fewer travelled furthest.
In fishing, 40% of hooks run 8 words or fewer. The 1–4 word ones reached 20 times their creator's followers and the 5–8 word ones 19, against 13 past 20 words. "Giant Snakehead" is two words, and it has 7.4 million views.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Anglers do both, and the niche splits down the middle. 36% of these reels only say the hook out loud, and 36% put it on screen, some with a voice as well.
Typed hooks went further. The middle reel with text alone reached 24 times its creator's followers, against 19 for a spoken one. The reels that did both travelled least, at 9 times. Plenty of the spoken ones are a reaction to the catch, like "Oh my god, dude." Typed words still land with the sound off.
