Leadership reels have an odd job. They speak to managers and to the people who report to them, often in the same breath. To see which opening lines carry them, we read all 510 viral leadership reels in Aubrium's library, from 436 creators. Bold claims open 33% of viral leadership reels, and callouts and questions follow at 18% each. Relatable lines, on 6%, went 32 times followers for the middle one, the furthest of the common kinds; 13 rarer POV hooks reached 39. 81% show the hook on screen, and the middle hook is 12 words.

What kind of hook works best for leadership reels?
Bold claims lead at 33%. Callouts and questions tie for second, at 18% each.
Distance flips the order. Of the common kinds, relatable lines went furthest, 32 times their account's followers for the middle reel, with curiosity gaps at 26. A few rare kinds went further still: 13 POV hooks reached 39 and 6 negative hooks 46. Bold claims and callouts went about as far as each other, 20 and 19, and questions managed 13. Only 2% skip the hook.

Mid-length. The middle hook is 12 words, and the 5 to 8 word band went furthest.
That band reached 21 times followers for the middle reel. The two bands after it sat at 15, and past 20 words the middle reel reached 12. Fragments of four words or fewer made 16. In this niche, a short full sentence did better than a fragment.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it, and let the text stand alone. 81% of viral leadership reels put the hook on screen.
Look at the mix. Text that's also read aloud is the most common, at 42%, and it went only 13 times followers for the middle reel. Text on its own went 34. A spoken hook with no text managed 14.
How do viral leadership hooks start?
On "we", more than anything else: 21 hooks begin that way, and "I" opens 20. Plenty of leadership reels speak for a team or a company rather than one person.

We looked at every leadership reel in Aubrium's library on 22 October 2026: 510 reels from 436 creators with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, each of which reached at least twice its creator's follower count and at least 10,000 views. We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's leadership niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 323 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
