What kind of hook works best for marketing agency reels?
Bold claims are the most common by far, but relatable lines travelled furthest.
28% of these reels open with a claim like "This marketing campaign is genius." and 16% with a question. That's the expert's voice, and both reached 11 times followers for the middle one. Relatable lines open only 10%: the jokes about bosses, coworkers and clients who'd rather use AI. The middle one reached 41. POV hooks, on 5% of reels, reached 30, and negative ones 29. Only 5% have no hook at all, so in this niche nearly everyone opens with a line.

The Place We Rented
How long should a marketing agency hook be?
The middle hook here is 12 words. Up to that length, hooks went about as far as each other; longer ones fell back.
Only 32% run 8 words or fewer. Up to 12 words, the middle hook reached 17 to 20 times its creator's followers. Past that it slipped, to 13 for 13–20 words and 9 for 21 and up. Agency people like to explain things. The first line is the wrong place to start explaining.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it, even though nearly half say it as well: 48% both say and show the hook, but text alone travelled furthest.
The middle text-only hook reached 24 times its creator's followers. Saying it as well, or only saying it, reached 11 either way. 62% of these reels have someone talking to camera, so the habit is to start speaking. A line of text up front lets people decide before the voice gets going.
