The best hooks for apartment living reels, from 655 that went viral
We read the opening line of every viral apartment living reel in Aubrium's library: which hooks show up most, which travelled furthest, and 16 real ones to learn from.

"I might have the most peak male apartment in the country. You guys have to tell me below." The account behind that line, written on screen and said out loud, had 2,785 followers. The reel got 12 million views.
It's a dare to argue in the comments, and it travelled. We went through the opening lines of 655 viral apartment living reels, from 554 creators, to see what this niche says first. For hooks in general, the guide to hooks across niches is the place to start, and the full list of niches we studied has the rest.
Viral apartment living reels open most often on a relatable line, 19% of them, or a transformation tease, 17%. POV hooks are rarer, at 6%, yet the middle one travelled 53 times its creator's followers, further than any type but the 14 negative hooks. 85% put the hook on screen, and the middle hook is 11 words.

What kind of hook works best for apartment living reels?
Relatable lines, just ahead of transformation teases and curiosity gaps. Moving day, getting the keys, the first night alone: these hooks lean on moments every renter knows.
Reach tells a different story. Curiosity gaps are common, at 16%, but the middle one reached only 11 times followers. POV hooks, 6% of these reels, reached 53, the furthest of any type with a real number of reels behind it. Negative hooks show 62, but there are only 14 of them. And 11% of these reels have no real hook and open on the room.

How long should an apartment living hook be?
No one length wins. The middle hook runs 11 words, yet the 9 to 12 word band travelled least; shorter and longer hooks reached 20 to 26 times followers.
Hooks of 1 to 4 words reached 26 times followers, 5 to 8 words 22, 13 to 20 words 20, and past 20 words 22. Only 39% of these hooks are 8 words or fewer, so long lines are normal here: a two-word title over a tour sits beside a full sentence about the move.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Write it. 62% of these reels show the hook as text only, and 23% write it and say it.
The written-only ones travelled furthest by some way: 34 times the creator's followers for the middle reel. Hooks that were spoken, with or without text, both sat at 11. Tours make up 33% of these reels, and while the camera walks the rooms, the text carries the point.
How do viral apartment living hooks start?
"I" tops the list, then "POV". Right behind them, level at 16, are "the" and a word that tells you what kind of niche this is: "welcome", as in welcome to my home.

How we did this
We looked at every apartment living reel in Aubrium's library on 22 October 2026: 655 reels from 554 creators with 1,000 to 100,000 followers, each of which reached at least twice its creator's follower count and at least 10,000 views. We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's apartment living niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 347 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
