It's a negative hook, one that leads with what's wrong. Only 3% of viral interior design reels open with one, and they travelled further than any other type. What kind of hook works best for interior design reels?
Curiosity gaps lead, at 15%, but only just. Transformation teases are close behind at 13%, and nothing else reaches 10%.
On reach, the order flips. The middle negative hook, the kind that names a mistake, reached 45 times its creator's followers. Number lists, also 3%, came next at 29, and transformation teases at 28. Curiosity gaps, the most common, sat at 16, and bold claims at 11. And with 27% of these reels carrying no real hook, the finished room often opens the reel by itself.

How long should an interior design hook be?
Keep it short. The middle hook is 9 words, and hooks past 20 words travelled least, at 8 times followers.
Hooks of 1 to 4 words reached 19 times, 9 to 12 words reached 18, and 5 to 8 words reached 16, so anything up to about a dozen words held up. From 13 to 20 words, the middle reel fell to 12. A designer's line can name the room and the problem, and leave the rest to the after.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. Text on screen leads, at 47%, with spoken hooks at 13% and both at 12%.
Text alone travelled furthest, 21 times the creator's followers for the middle reel. Hooks that were said and written reached 14, and spoken-only ones 11. A spoken hook needs the viewer's sound on; a written one works on mute.

Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 366 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
