POV hooks are rare in crafting, 2% of reels. And 39% of the 1,810 viral ones in Aubrium's library have no hook of any type: they open straight on the work. We read all 1,810, from 1,585 creators, to see which openings keep turning up and how far each went. Curiosity gaps lead on viral crafting reels, at 17%, then transformation teases and questions. The rare types went furthest: warnings reached 42 times their account's followers and POV hooks 36, but they open only 21 and 40 reels. 39% have no hook at all. The middle hook is 9 words.

What kind of hook works best for crafting reels?
Curiosity gaps are the most common. The types that travelled furthest are rare ones: warnings and POV lines.
Transformation teases come second, with 272 reels. Only 40 reels open on POV, yet the middle one travelled 36 times its creator's followers. Warnings went further still, 42 times, but there are just 21 of them. Among the common types, curiosity gaps and callouts both reached 23. And the 39% with no hook of any type reached 26.

We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's crafting niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 501 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
