"Sometimes I wanna dress like this" is six words from a creator with 1,481 followers, and the reel reached 3.3 million views. It's a confession more than a pitch, and it leaves the outfit to do the rest.
Modest fashion covers hijab styling, abayas and modest outfits for work and the gym, with hooks like "found the perfect gym fit." We went through the first line of every one of the 1,338 viral modest fashion reels in Aubrium's library, from 950 creators, sorting them by hook type and by reach. On viral modest fashion reels, the hook you'll meet most is a relatable line (12% of reels), followed by callouts and transformation teases. The one that travelled furthest is rarer: aspirational lines, on 4% of reels, whose typical reel reached 22 times its account's followers. 33% open with no real hook, and the median hook runs 8 words.

What kind of hook works best for modest fashion reels?
Relatable lines lead, on 12% of reels, with callouts and transformation teases at 10% each. And 33% of reels open with no real hook.
The aspirational line went furthest. Only 50 reels open with one, yet their typical reel drew 22 times its account's followers in views, the top of the chart. Think "EASY HIJAB STYLE FOR SCHOOL": a look the viewer would like to pull off. Relatable lines came next, at 19 times, then questions at 18. Callouts are the second most common type but sit low, at 11 times.

How long should a modest fashion hook be?
Short. The middle modest fashion hook is 8 words, and the shorter the hook, the further it went.
The tiniest hooks, four words or under, had a typical reach of 17 times followers. Five to eight words got 13. From 9 words on, it settled at 10 or 11. Just over half of these hooks, 57%, keep to 8 words or fewer. Two words can be the whole hook here, as "HIJAB TUTORIAL" shows.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Most show it. 69% of viral modest fashion reels put the hook on screen, and 58% use text alone.
Written-only and spoken-only hooks ended up close, at 14 and 12 times followers in the middle. Saying and showing the line together came last, at 10. With a song under 48% of these reels, a written line is the easy way in.
How do viral modest fashion hooks start?
"I" comes first most often, then "the" and "POV". After that the niche names itself: "modest" opens 15 hooks, "outfit" 8 and "hijab" 6.

Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 412 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
