It's a warning, and in this niche warnings are the type to watch. We read the opening line of all 804 viral weight loss reels in Aubrium's library, from 716 creators. Transformation teases are the most common hook on viral weight loss reels, at 22%, then bold claims at 19% and curiosity gaps at 13%. Warnings are rarer, at 4%, but the middle one travelled furthest: 53 times its creator's followers. 87% put the hook on screen as text, and the middle hook runs 10 words.

What kind of hook works best for weight loss reels?
Transformation teases lead, at 22%. They hint at a change and hold the reveal back until the reel plays out.
Look further down the chart. Warnings open just 4% of these reels, yet the middle one reached 53 times its creator's followers, the furthest of any type. POV hooks are rarer still, at 3%, and came next at 44 times. Bold claims are common, at 19%, but sit lower, at 15. Only 5% of viral weight loss reels have no real hook and open on the footage.

How long should a weight loss hook be?
The middle hook here runs 10 words. The ones that travelled furthest were a little shorter, at 5 to 8.
Hooks of 5 to 8 words reached 26 times their creator's followers in the middle, the best of any length. The shortest, 1 to 4 words, sat at 16, level with 9 to 12. Past 20 words it dropped to 13. Only 41% of these hooks stay at 8 words or fewer, so most of them run longer than the lines that went furthest.
Should you say the hook or show it?
Show it. 63% of these reels write the hook on screen and leave it unsaid, and another 25% write it and say it.
Text alone also went furthest, by a long way: 29 times the creator's followers for the middle reel. Written and spoken together, it was 12. Spoken alone, 10. Plenty of these hooks are labels anyway, a calorie count, a ranking, a rule, and a label reads faster than it sounds.

We counted every reel filed in Aubrium's weight loss niche; a reel can sit in more than one niche.
Hook types, delivery and on-screen text are labels Aubrium's reader puts on every post. Hook length and first words count the 437 reels with an English hook in words. Every number here describes reels that already went viral, so none of it is the odds for a new one.
